Sage, or Salvia officinalis, is a perennial evergreen subshrub that belongs to the Lamiaceae family. It originates from the Mediterranean region but now is naturalized in many parts of the world. The plant usually grows up to 0.6 m in height. The leaves are oblong, about 2.5-6.4 cm long and 1-2.5 cm wide. The upper side of the leaves is greyish green and rugose, while the underside is almost white and pubescent. The flowers can be lavender, purple, white or pink.
