KOLA NUTS: BETTER THAN COFFEE

Kola is a distant relative of cocoa. Kola nut is the fruit of the evergreen tree Cola acuminata, a twenty-meter giant native to equatorial Africa.

Back in the 16th century, Kola nut has become one of the most expensive trade and exchange products in Africa.

The Kola nut is associated with the most popular drinks in the world: "Coca-Cola" and "Pepsi-Cola". In 1886, doctor and pharmacist John Pemberton prepared a potion based on the extract from the coca leaves and kola nuts, which have tonic properties. The mixture tasted very good. The pharmacist took the syrup to the largest pharmacy in the city of Atlanta. Over time, the popularity of the syrup increased. The Coca-Cola drink appeared as a result of negligence: the seller, who was diluting the syrup, accidentally confused the taps and poured carbonated water instead of ordinary water.
