Burdock (Arctium Lappa) is a biennial plant that belongs to the Asteraceae family. It is native to Europe and Asia. The herb can reach up to 3 m in height. The leaves are alternately arranged, quite large, heart-shaped, hairy on the bottom part and having a long petiole. The purple flowers are united into flower heads which are grouped in clusters. The flower heads are surrounded by an involucre that consists of many floral bracts in the form of a hook. This allows them to be stuck to animals’ fur and be spread at long distances. The fruits are represented by achenes which are quite long, pressed together and covered with short pubescence.
